First I’m gonna take you out to dinner, and then I’m gonna go back to my apartment and watch kung fu

No longer employed by Novell, I moved my blog back to my own site. Pardon our appearance while under construction.

Does your unemployment have any relation with the one from http://www.osnews.com/comment.php?news_id=12512 ?

Yes, Novell had a round of layoff this week and I was one of the victims.

So I noticed that your excellent Glade# browser demo is no longer up on ximian.primates.com either, do you have it posted somewhere?

Can you give us any details on the direction that Novell looks to be going with Mono? Are they going to halt progress or kill all of their support/funding for the project?

I’m just embarking on a significant project that needs to be Linux/Windows cross-platform and was going to use Java, but our internal MS-Win zealots have convinced leadership that .NET is the way to go and that my concerns (cross-platform) are addressed by Mono. Do you think this is a safe approach, or is a bad idea in light of Novell’s staffing “corrections”?

    Thanks,
    Wes

I have now moved the Glade# browser demo tutorial back to this web site.

As far as Mono goes, I believe it to be a great piece of sofware and team. I can’t comment on where Novell is taking it and whether they’re renewing their support/funding since I am no longer a Novell employee.
